Tempest Summer is a band from Washington, D.C. that describes its music as new punk. This design was used for a concert poster and also for their CD cover. In creating this, I wanted to represent something very typical of punk, something that captured its roots, and to mix that with new music technologies. I eventually decided to use a chain, which is probably one of the best objects to signify traditional punk because classic punk rockers always wore a chain on some part of their body. Using the chain concept with a modern splash tectonic art, I shaped the chain to spell out the name tempest summer.
